Home Depot is now on my list

Photobucket

Blah blah blah. Time for the What I Learned This Week blog carnival over at Musings of a Housewife. Check it out. You may just learn something.

Forget what I learned this week. I'm going to talk about what I learned this morning. Early this morning. At an hour that no one should have to be awake to learn anything.

Let me just get it out there. Home Depot is evil.

My husband went in to the store the other day to buy a ginormous ladder. A ladder so big that it had to be delivered. And sure, his wife (yes, that would be me) would be home on Tuesday to take the delivery. The person at the delivery desk saw that she was talking to a man. How could she not know that she needed to give him all the information possible because there was no way that he'd be asking the necessary questions? Yeah, she didn't give him a time window for the delivery. Not even an am or pm time slot. Thanks for that. My husband said I could call the day of the delivery and find out a time range for the delivery. Yeah, that's helpful. So I cleared my schedule for today.

I need not have bothered.

Why?

Because I got a wake up call at "Why in the H. E. double hockey sticks are you calling me at this time and someone had better be dead" o'clock from the Home Depot delivery driver saying he'd be at my house in about 15 minutes. Seriously? It's still dark outside when he calls AND WAKES ME UP! Do I need a ladder at that ungodly hour of the morning? NO! So to teach the evil delivery driver a lesson, this is how I greeted him when he showed up at my door:

That should teach him a lesson. Maybe you should be checking for his "What I Learned" blog post later. Hey, Home Depot? You're on my list.

I'm going back to bed now.

Hmmm, I would think that it would be nicer to have it out of the way earlier rather than later. I hate not getting a time frame and then waiting around all day only to get a call about 6 pm, "Sir, I'm sorry but we got held up at a couple of other jobs. Would it be ok if we put you on the schedule for first thing tomorrow?" What do you say to that? No I want you to come out here at 8pm and get the job done? I think if you name is last on the list they should call you pretty early and say, "you name is last on our list today, we won't be there till late afternoon at best and if things go like they always go we'll be calling you early evening to tell you that we can't make it till tomorrow so go have fun since you took the day off to take care of this and go ahead and let your boss know that you might be late tomorrow."

That's just wrong. Wrong, wrong, shameful and wrong.

I would have been tempted to go back to sleep and not get up to take the delivery!

Who would have thought that their delivery people would even imagine to attempt making deliveries during ungodly hours. Say any earlier than 8am or after 6pm???

Customer service doesn't exist anymore or rarely within any place I am confident.

In this economy it would be the only thing keeping us from going to another competitor.

You want loyalty from your customers, starting serving them the right way, like we sign your paychecks because ultimately we do.

Next time just tell them that you won't be there to accept the delivery until whatever time you want to wake up then go back to sleep.

Let them wonder... but at least you can teach them!

It's always that way here. The day I don't Change out of my PJ's is the day the doorbell rings.

hahaha, I would hate it if it had happened to me but that's so funny...mostly because of the picture and I can just see the guys face.
Hope you got some rest after the latter got there!
Blessings.
