Florida is trying to kill me

Photobucket

I'm back! And just in time for What I Learned This Week over at Musings of a Housewife. Want to see what other people learned? Then check out her site!

What did I learn this week? That Florida has it in for me. Seriously.

Let me back up a bit. I'm not a fan of Florida. At all. I don't do well with heat or humidity and since they've got both there all year long, it's not my favorite place to be. Apparently, Florida has taken this personally. We went back there 4 or 5 years ago to visit my husband's family and as soon as we got there, I came down with the flu. This wasn't just any flu, it was the one that was all over the news because it was killing people. I had a fever well over 103 degrees and was completely miserable. And Florida gave it to me. Not exactly the welcome gift one would hope for.

Fast forward to last week. As some of you might know, my father-in-law passed away last week. So we packed up and flew back there on Wednesday. Not exactly the ideal reason to be going back, but necessary. Florida knew I was coming. It attacked me while we were on our way there. I had horrible pain in my left arm. Not a good sign, huh? It felt like my arm was going to explode. When we finally landed in Florida, it was straight to the emergency room for me. They ruled out a heart attack right away, but were checking me for a pulmonary embolism. After they ruled that out, they didn't know what to do with me, so they sent me on my way. Uh, yeah. So I've been in pain since then and still have no idea what's going on. I see my doctor here at home today, so I'm hoping to learn more. But Florida? Enough already! Who knew a state could be so touchy?

Look for the Life is Funny carnival to start up again on Sunday. I just couldn't get it started this week. If you've got something to share, c'mon back and share it with us next week!

:( Sorry FL was so bad to you. I'll have a talk with it.

I love Florida. Been here just about my whole life and I can say that it has never EVER given me the flu or heart attack like symptoms. ;)

Glad you made it back in one piece though. That's always a plus.

I have never been to Florida. I don't intend to go there now until it apologizes to you for mistreating you. Then I will consider ending my boycott. If it begs.

(Don't be afraid of me. I am actually quite harmless)

Oh you poor thing. I hope you feel better soon. I would stay out of that state if at all possible in the future.

Florida's never done anything to me. Well, except that time Hurricane Andrew chased us out of the state. But clearly, it does not like you. Should I talk to Texas about this? Texas would kick Florida's puny little peninsula a$$!

Sorry to hear about your father-in-law.

Sorry to hear about your lousy experience with an entire state! And Florida is usually nice this time of year (i.e. it's not that hot yet!). Hope your doctor figures out what's wrong with your arm but glad you're back. I missed your posts!

Sorry to hear about you experiences with Florida, haven't been there in 10+ years myself.
Hope you are feeling better soon and that the doctor finds the cause of your arm pain.

Sorry about your father-in-law. Thanks for commenting on my blog way back.

I hate to say this, but my parents took my family and my brother's family to Florida 2+ years ago and we loved it. Granted, it was DisneyWorld. So much fun!

Oh no!! I hate that you are in pain, but really glad it isn't a heart attack (which is what I first thought reading pain in arm!). Hope they figure out what it is & how to make it go far, far away.

...sorry Florida isn't for you. I will have to tell it to be nice to you. I have a great relationship with the state since my family is there & I have been a lot of my life. Maybe I can patch things up between the two of you.

for now.. I just hope they can patch you up! :)

You aren't turning werewolf are you? Full moon tomorrow!

Oh my gosh! How scary. I hope they can figure out what's wrong. As for Florida, lol. I love heat and humidity. I'm so sick of this chilly spring here in PA. A trip to FL sounds delightful right about now. ;-)
