Tell me again why coveting is wrong?

Photobucket

People are learning stuff all over the place this week. Don't believe me? Check out "What I Learned This Week" over at Musings of a Housewife.

Hello, my name is Wendy and I have craft room envy.

Hi Wendy.

This week I fell in love with yet another person's craft room. You can check it out here. It's one in a long line of craft rooms I've coveted. This week I've learned that, yes, I have a problem. The problem is that my craft room looks nothing like these other glorious creations I've been falling in love with!

Oh sure, I've got a room that in its heart of hearts wants to be a craft room when it grows up. It holds a good portion of the craft crap mess essentials that I could possibly use one day. If I ever get around to it. I've even got my grandma's old (massive) sewing desk in there. The sewing machine has never actually been in it since the desk has been in my possession... I really do need to learn to sew someday.

Okay, I have done a little sewing. But never on the machine that I own. That's somewhere out in the garage. Collecting dust. But with my friend's help, I was able to sew one outfit for my daughter.

If I could just get my friend to move near me and stand over me constantly, I'd be well on my way. In case that day comes, I've got tubs and tubs of fabrics that I've bought over the years. Yes, that's yet another addiction of mine. Don't even ask me about greeting cards.

But back to the craft room.

One day I'm hoping that it grows up to become something fabulous. A place where I'll actually go to do crafts. Okay, no, I have yet to do a craft in that room. I should probably call it the computer room since that seems to be it's only function right now. But no, I'll hold out hope and call it the craft room. Visualize craftiness. I think that should be my new motto. I could embroider it on a pillow. Or not.

Want to make a little extra effort? Then check out my blog carnival, Life is Funny. Because life really is funny. Especially when you tilt your head and look at it cross-eyed.

Dear Wendy, I own two sewing machines, and I never learned how to sew anything. I don't know how to turn the darn things on. One was my mom's. My dad bought it for her the first year they were married. We used it as a side table in the dining room, since mom never learned to sew. The other was my Mother In Law's. She knew how to sew. In the old house, I used it in the kitchen as a stand for the breadmaker I never used. Now it is in the basement, keeping the freezer company.

If only they made a sewing machine that would thread itself... Don't even get me started on bobbins! AAAA!!!

I still get craft envy even though my husband put together a craft room for me and all it does is house the "stuff" that is used to scrapbook, craft etc. I'm so bad. That is a cute outfit - love the colors!

I love looking at other craft rooms. I remember finding some amazing ones on Flickr.

I got some new shelves and storage boxes for our dining room last year, as the only way I will have a dedicated craft room is when my kids leave home!

In the meantime, digi-scrapping is a great craft - you just need your laptop (and printer, ehd, paypal...)!

I am not crafty so I can't relate... but may I just say your daughter is ADORABLE. I know that pic was taken about eight years ago, but those cheeks! SO CUTE.

Ummm, yeah, that craft room you are jealous of - it's INSANE! My craft room looks like a tornado came through. I can almost hear the wicked witch now... And the last time I used it? To make Christmas presents!

Since I don't craft, I can't relate to the need or desire for a craft room, HOWEVER, that craft room is amazing. I can see why you're coveting it. :-)

Seriously? You made that. You and Heather should go into business together. You'd make a killing.

That outfit is seriously cute!! I made a little vest for my son to wear in my sisters wedding (with cow buttons and everything). He made me promise to not make him anything else.

Until I took up knitting in which he simply HAD to have a black ski hat. I stayed up late one night trying to finish it. I was so excited about it, that I woke him up to try it on him. He was 5 at the time and the hat was an adult size small, and the darn thing didn't fit. He told me that it was cute but to "keep working on it mom". I ended up giving it to my girlfriend instead (and she wears it all the time).

First of all- every room in Meg's house is FABULOUS!!! I would love a craft room. And second- I swore I was going to learn to sew with each new baby girl I had. My baby is four and half. I can't sew a button on without pain and tears. >sigh< oh well.
